Man charged in friend’s murder in Temple Hills

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) said it arrested someone in connection to a fatal shooting that took place in Temple Hills on Saturday morning.

A few minutes after 4 a.m., police responding to a shooting found 36-year-old Estep Kyler Jr. of Largo with a gunshot wound in the 2300 block of Iverson St. Kyler told officers he was sitting in a car in a parking lot in the 2400 block of Iverson St. with his friend, 40-year-old Andrew Carnell of Washington, D.C., when they got into an argument.

Officers found Washington inside of the car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Washington died there.

Police said that Kyler shot Washington during the fight and that it appeared Kyler shot himself.

As of Monday, Kyler was in custody at a hospital where he was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and other related charges. He will be taken to the Department of Corrections after he is released from the hospital.
