A 31-year-old man faces multiple felony charges after a shooting last summer that killed another man and wounded a woman downtown, authorities said Saturday.
Charles James, of the West Garfield Park neighborhood, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted first-degree murder in the July 19 shooting in the 300 block of North Wabash Avenue, according to Chicago police.
James was arrested Friday in the 1100 block of South Oakley Boulevard in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood.
Around 2:30 a.m. that morning, officers were waved down by two people in a car who needed medical assistance after being shot in the 300 block of North Wabash Avenue, police said.
A 35-year-old man was shot once in the neck and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died, police said. A 25-year-old woman was shot twice in the left arm and taken to Northwestern, where she had been listed in good condition.
The man was later was identified as Gregory Crawford, of Maywood, according to the medical examiner’s office.
