Man cited for careless driving in Evergreen wreck

Mar. 31—A local man was cited for careless driving after being involved in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 2 East in Evergreen.

According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Casey Graff, a 29-year-old man driving a 2000 Chevy Malibu was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic when it drove from the left lane to the right lane.

The Malibu clipped a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by a 54-year-old local woman, then hit the curb, a cement block and came to rest on its roof after striking a cable box which was on the side of a home.

Trooper Graff said the man was driving on a suspended license and had no insurance. He was cited for those offenses as well as careless driving. The man was not wearing a seat belt, but wasn't injured.

The woman in the pickup truck was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. A passenger in the truck was wearing her seat belt improperly, but was not injured.

Evergreen Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.

Westbound traffic was backed up near the scene while the major thoroughfare was reduced to a single lane.
