Man claims he accidentally purchased an Arby’s menu sign instead of a TV
Most of the time, thriftiness is close to godliness. That’s probably not true in this case.
TikTok user h1t1 shared a video in which he explained how a thrifty electronics purchase went wrong — or so he claimed.
“Someone really just sold me a flat screen TV for $25,” he wrote in the video. “I go home and hook it up and a mf arbys menu pops up.”
On Oct. 5, a Twitter user claimed someone sold him a television that turned out to be a McDonald’s menu in a viral post. There’s a chance this is all a prank and a parody of that tweet, and h1t1 merely loaded an Arby’s menu sign to a functioning television himself.
Of course, it could all be a part of a growing trend in which people are stealing menu signs and selling them as televisions. The possibilities are endless, so In The Know reached out to h1t1 to verify his post, but he has not yet responded.
In the meantime, commenters found the alleged mishap to be hilarious.
“I’m freaking crying,” one user said.
“Arby’s ads are getting more creative by the second,” another wrote.
Arby’s responded in the comments of the video.
“We’ve been looking for this,” the brand’s TikTok replied.
H1t1 responded with a follow-up video and said, “Arby’s rlly think they gonna get it back.”
“Arby’s may have the meats but I have the menu,” he said in yet another video.
TikTok user kevinkempt shared a video in which he claimed to have been the person who sold the television.

“I sold this short dude a flat screen for $25. Little does he know, all it can physically display is the Arby’s menu,” he wrote in the post, which follows the format of the original a little too closely to not be suspicious.
From there, a number of clear parody videos were born. H1T1 has been sharing them on his page.
“I’m at this Arby’s rn and only half the menu is up, like where’s the other TV?” one user said in a TikTok.
“I have no clue bro,” h1t1 responded with the menu in the frame behind him.
Arby’s seems to be trying to get the menu sign back in the comments of nearly every video, so we’ll see what h1t1 gets out of the exchange, whether his post is authentic or not.
“The world will never be the same because of you,” the fast food joint commented on another post.
I must admit that I now I have the song used in all of these videos — “Upside Down” by Jack Johnson, which appeared in the “Curious George” movie from 2006 — hopelessly stuck in my head. It’s the perfect soundtrack for mischief.
