Driver in custody after fleeing rental truck on foot in Miamisburg

A man is in custody after fleeing a vehicle on foot in Miamisburg early Sunday morning.

Miamisburg Police attempted to make a traffic stop of a Budget rental truck at 2:45 a.m. in the area of State Route 725 and Water Tower, Sgt. Jeff Muncy of Miamisburg Police told NewsCenter 7.

The truck failed to stop and got onto Southbound Interstate 75 and officers followed. They exited at Austin Boulevard.

Miami Township Police used a drone and Kettering Police provide a K9 for mutual aid. The K9 made a “no bite apprehension” after the drone found the suspect in a wooded area, according to Sgt. Muncy.

The driver was taken into custody at 3:15 a.m. at a dead end of Automation Way near Austin Boulevard.

Alejandro Barajas, 31, is in the Montgomery County Jail facing misdemeanor charges of Obstructing Official Business and Failure to Comply, Sgt. Muncy said.

He is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning at 11:15 a.m., according to online jail records.

A second person was in the rental truck but was not charged.
