Man dies after being found unconscious in Stearns County grain bin

Jul. 6—OAK TOWNSHIP, Stearns County — A 34-year old man was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon after being found unresponsive in a grain bin in Oak Township of Stearns County.

According to a press release from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, a caller around 1:49 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 reported that the man, identified as Thomas Holdvogt, had been found unresponsive in the grain bin by a family member at a property located on the 32000 Oakland Road.

Fire personnel were able to remove Holdvogt from the bin and lifesaving efforts were started. Holdvogt was transported to Centra Care Hospital in Melrose where he was later pronounced dead, the release said. An autopsy will be performed by the Midwest Examiner's Office as part of the investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Melrose Police Department, Freeport Fire Department, Melrose Fire Department and the Melrose Ambulance Service.
