Man dies after being hit by truck at Goshen Church of God food pantry

GOSHEN — A 73-year-old Goshen man died Friday while directing a pickup truck that was delivering food for a pantry at Goshen Church of God, 1304 E. Lincoln Ave., police reported.

Jack Hurd was struck by the truck as it backed up and pinned him against the building at about 2:30 p.m. The left foot of the truck's driver inadvertently left the brake and hit the gas pedal, police reported.

Paramedics arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but Hurd died at the scene, police reported.
