Man dies in crash just east of Interstate 95 in St. Lucie County

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A 65-year-old Maryland man died and two Fort Pierce men weren't injured following a three-vehicle crash Friday, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

The crash was reported at 2:55 p.m. at Orange Avenue and Jenkins Road, just east of Interstate 95, according to the FHP.

The crash happened as the 65-year-old man from Kingsville, Maryland, drove a 2020 Kia sport utility vehicle west on Orange Avenue. He was in the left-turn lane at Jenkins Road. A 2017 Kia SUV driven by a 55-year-old Fort Pierce man was behind him.

Meanwhile, a 37-year-old Fort Pierce man drove a 2004 Chevrolet pickup east on Orange Avenue approaching Jenkins Road.

The Maryland man tried to make a left turn onto Jenkins Road, and the Chevrolet pickup crashed with the Maryland man's Kia SUV.

The Maryland man's vehicle got re-directed, crashing into the 2017 Kia.

The Maryland man was pronounced dead at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, while the drivers of the other vehicles weren't injured, the FHP stated.

FHP does not name people involved in crashes.
