Man dies after crash at South Beloit race track

SOUTH BELOIT — A Ham Lake, Minnesota, man has been identified as the driver who died Sunday after driving off the track at Blackhawk Farms Raceway and striking a tree.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office was called about 7:45 p.m. to a local hospital for a motor vehicle crash victim.

A preliminary investigation revealed Charles Mack, 69, was the driver of a racing vehicle that crashed at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, 15538 Prairie Road.

Mack was transported from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:14 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
