Man dies after crashing into a tree in Hall County

A man is dead after a crash in Hall County over Labor Day weekend.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the man, identified as Alex Velasquez, 28, of Gainesville, was killed in a crash early Sunday morning on Browns Bridge Road near Holland Drive.

Investigators said as Velasquez tried to turn in a curve near Cherokee Trail, his truck went off the road, hit a stop sign and then a tree just past Holland Drive.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators said speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Traffic investigators will continue to investigate the case.
