Man dies after crashing into utility pole in Newport News
A man died Saturday night after crashing into a utility pole in Newport News.
Police were called for the single-vehicle crash just before 7:30 p.m. on Jefferson Avenue near Meadow Creek Drive.
When officers arrived, they found the driver — a 29-year-old man who has not been publicly identified — dead at the scene, according to a news release from police.
Police did not say what might have caused the crash, only that the man drove off the roadway and hit a utility pole.
