Man dies following head-on collision on Hope Mills Road in Fayetteville on Monday

A Hope Mills man died at the hospital Monday evening following a head-on collision on Hope Mills Road.

Charles Coleman, 48, died as a result of the wreck about 6 p.m. near Hayden Lane, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Police said Coleman was driving a 2017 Honda in the opposite direction of a 2013 GMC driven by Kellie Mason, 34, of Fayetteville, when one of the vehicles crossed the center turn lane and struck the other head-on.

Coleman was pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Hospital.

The cause of the crash and the events leading up to it remain under investigation, police said.
