Man dies after head-on crash on Hwy 99E near Junction City

One man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Friday morning just north of Junction City on Highway 99E, according to Oregon State Police.

The crash was reported at 8:30 a.m. Friday near milepost 32.

A GMC Sierra was headed southbound when it crossed the center line and hit a northbound Jeep Cherokee head-on, state police said.

The Jeep's driver, 40-year-old Nicholas Aaron Tyree, of Lebanon, died at the scene, state police said. The GMC's driver was taken to a hospital for injuries.

It is unknown what caused the accident, state police said. The road was closed for about four and a half hours.
