York County Coroner IDs man who died in shooting in York

York City Police are investigating a homicide after a 24-year-old York man died from injuries in a shooting Thursday morning, according to a news release and the York County Coroner's Office.

Quintir Simmons of the 700 block of East Prospect Street died of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner's office said. An autopsy was done Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

Police said earlier Thursday that the victim was 25 years old, but the coroner's office says his age is 24.

Officers responded around 9:34 a.m. today for a reported shooting in the 100 block of East Maple Street. They found the injured man and took him to a hospital, where he died, police said.

He was pronounced dead at 10:32 a.m. at WellSpan York Hospital, the coroner's office said.

Police said a suspect remained on the scene and is cooperating with officers.

This is the fourth homicide in York County so far this year.
