Man dies from injuries suffered in Painesville stabbing

Oct. 10—A 58-year-old Painesville man who was stabbed in the chest during an argument on East Prospect Street has died.

According to a city news release, Gabriel Lopez-Reyes was taken by medical helicopter to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center after being stabbed Oct. 4 at a residence on East Prospect Street in Painesville.

He died from his injuries on Oct. 9.

According to the release, Painesville Police responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of East Prospect Street on Oct. 4. The preliminary investigation revealed three male residents were injured during an argument.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department assisted Painesville Police officers in clearing the two-story residence.

The Fairport Harbor Fire Department transported Lopez-Reyes to University Hospitals Tri-Point Medical Center, where he was taken by medical helicopter to University Hospitals in Cleveland. Painesville City Fire Department and Painesville Township Fire Department transported a 57-year-old man who suffered an apparent stab wound to his abdomen and a 27-year-old man who suffered a laceration to the left side of his head to Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital.
