Man dies in northeast Charlotte motorcycle crash, police say
The driver of a motorcycle is dead after a crash with an SUV in northeast Charlotte on Sunday afternoon, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Around 3:45 p.m., police said they responded to a crash on East W. T. Harris Boulevard and Rose Heather Court near University Boulevard for the two vehicle crash.
Jaylon Kemp, 27, was driving a 2005 Yamaha YZFR6 motorcycle that suffered heavy damage when it was hit by a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, police said.

Kemp was found off the road with serious injuries, police said. He was taken to the hospital and died shortly after.
The driver of the Chevrolet was not hurt and stayed at the scene.
Investigators said they believe the Chevrolet was stopped facing southeast on East W. T. Harris Boulevard waiting to make a left turn onto Rose Heather Court. When making the turn, the Chevrolet hit the side of the motorcycle that was headed northwest on East W.T. Harris Boulevard.
Kemp was ejected from the motorcycle by the crash. Police said he was wearing a helmet.
Detectives said they were working to determine if Kemp was speeding on the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
The investigation is active and ongoing, CMPD said. No information was immediately made available on if the driver of the Chevrolet would be charged.
