Man dies in rollover collision on Interstate 15

A man suffered fatal injuries during a single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 15 in the Mountain Pass area east of Barstow.

Officials with the California Highway Patrol Barstow Area Office reported that at around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, officers and medical personnel were dispatched to the collision scene on northbound I-15.

Upon arrival, it was determined that the driver was operating a 2016 Hyundai Sonata on I-15 northbound, within the No. 3 lane, at an unknown rate of speed.

For unknown reasons, the driver veered his vehicle to his right, crossing the right shoulder and traveling up a dirt embankment, where the Hyundai began rolling over. It came to rest partially within the No. 3 northbound lane of I-15.

Emergency medical personnel at the scene pronounced the unidentified driver of the Hyundai deceased due to injuries sustained during the incident.

Alcohol and drugs are not considered contributing factors in this crash, which is under investigation by the CHP Barstow Area.
