Man dies after truck overturns in creek in Bethel Twp.

Jul. 25—A man is dead after crashing into a creek in Bethel Twp. His truck overturned in a creek on Schiller Road around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Robert Wood, 41, from Medway, was found pinned in his truck, which had overturned in a creek near Lake Road. Initial reports show that Bethel Twp. EMS volunteers entered the water to try to free Wood, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, the state patrol reported.

Additional reports show a second vehicle was involved in the crash and struck a utility pole in the area, bringing wires down. The other driver, not identified in a release, was not injured.

Schiller Road was closed in the area for a few hours as AT&T replaced the downed utility lines.

The state patrol did not have any additional information available on Sunday afternoon about the cause of the crash.

Through July 22, there has been 16 fatal crashes in Clark County, according to preliminary state patrol data. At the same time last year, Clark County had seen 23 fatal crashes. At the same time in 2019, eight fatal crashes had been reported.
