Oct. 19—A man and his dog were injured in a trailer fire at a Joppa business on Tuesday night, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Around 8:20 p.m., a passerby saw a fire on the property of B&T Services at 415 Pulaski Highway. Deputies from the Harford County Sheriff's Office, who were the first to respond, found Robert Kellogg, 38, of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, with severe burns, and heavy fire throughout a 30-foot camper trailer between two buildings.

Firefighters from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and surrounding departments contained the fire before it spread to the nearby buildings.

Kellogg told deputies he was inside the trailer with his dog when the fire broke out but he was able to escape with his dog, according to fire officials. Kellogg was treated at the scene and transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center, where he remains in critical condition with burns to over 60% of his body, fire officials said Tuesday afternoon.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office Animal Control also responded and transported Kellogg's dog to the Bel Air Animal Emergency Hospital, where it is being treated for injuries related to the fire. The dog is in stable condition with minor singing to the fur, said Oliver Alkire, assistant public information officer for the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Investigators learned Kellogg is an employee of the company who had permission to park his camper on the property. Although the cause of the fire remains under investigation, deputy state fire marshals are not ruling out failure of a propane heater inside the camper.
