Police say a man was shot early Sunday morning near 15th Street and Kristal Way in Phoenix.

At about 8 a.m., police officers responded to a call of multiple shots fired inside a residence, according to Sgt. Melissa Soliz, a spokesperson for Phoenix Police Department.

Officers found a man with gunshot wounds before he was pronounced dead by the Phoenix Fire Department.

"Early information indicates the homeowner was inside his residence with a group of people," Soliz said in an email. "The homeowner was confronted by multiple people and a gunfight occurred inside the home."

A man was shot and killed by the homeowner, Soliz said. The people who arrived with the victim fled the home after the shooting.

The homeowner remained on the scene and cooperated with police.

Information about what led up to the shooting was still under investigation. There have been no arrests.
