Man fatally wounded in alley in Gresham neighborhood

A 31-year-old man was fatally wounded in an alley Wednesday afternoon in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m., the man was in an alley in the 8400 block of Morgan Street when a light-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside the vehicle opened fire. The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

About a half-hour earlier, a 25-year-old man was shot in the Longwood Manor neighborhood, police said.

Around 2 p.m., the man was standing on the sidewalk in the 9600 block of South Harvard Avenue when a light-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside the vehicle fired shots at the man.

He suffered a wound to the right foot and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody for either attack. Detectives were investigating.
