Covington police have identified a man found lying against a traffic barrier on northbound Interstate 71/75 near the 12th Street exit Monday morning.

Police said the victim is 60-year-old Donald Holt, of Independence, Kentucky.

Officers believe Holt was struck by a passing vehicle – likely a tractor-trailer, police said in a news release.

Police said Holt was seen at St. Elizabeth Covington Hospital about 3 a.m. Monday.

Officers are unsure why he was on the interstate or what time he was struck.

Police found Holt shortly before 7 a.m. Traffic lanes there have since reopened in both directions.

Anyone with information about the man's death is asked to call police at 859-292-2252.
