Man found dead in bedroom after Parkway house fire. Sacramento firefighters investigating cause
A man was killed Thursday night after flames consumed his room at a home in Sacramento’s Parkway neighborhood, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.
Firefighters were called at about 10:45 p.m. to the 4100 block of Archean Way for reports of a structure in the Parkway neighborhood, said Capt. Justin Sylvia, a Fire Department spokesman. Firefighters didn’t see flames when they arrived, but saw a moderate amount of smoke, he said.

The victim’s roommate informed firefighters the man was trapped inside. She heard him screaming for help while inside, opened the door to his room and saw flames devouring its contents inside, Sylvia said. He noted the heavy fire prevented the woman from saving him.
Firefighters began extinguishing the fire and found the man, he said.
There wasn’t much damage to the rest of the home, but the victim’s room was severely burned, Sylvia said.
Fire investigators arrived at the scene and were still determining the fire’s cause, he said.
