Man found dead in Trinity River in Dallas; officials request help identifying him

The public is being asked for help to identify a man who was found dead in the Trinity River in Dallas, officials say.

The man was described as either white or Hispanic. He was about 5 feet 7 inches tall and had a surgically amputated right hand. The man also had numerous tattoos.

The Dallas Police Department and the Dallas County Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences are asking for help to identify the man, who was found dead in the area of the Loop 12 boat ramp on Jan. 18. A passersby saw the man floating in the Trinity River and called the police, according to officials.

The name “Anthony Luna” was tattooed on his right shoulder, and the name “Jose” was tattooed across the knuckles of his left hand. He also had a tattoo of a woman on his lower left flank — between the rib cage and hip — and a rosary on his left hand or arm.
