Man found guilty of child sex crimes across Pa.

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was found guilty by a jury of various child sex crimes that he allegedly committed against multiple victims across Pennsylvania

On April 3 a Bradford County jury found Jonathan Rivera, 34, of Towanda guilty of numerous sex offenses against children.

Investigators stated four victims testified Rivera committed sexually motivated crimes against them when they were young children. All four were girls between the ages of six and nine when they were victimized, police said.

The crimes were committed between 2009 and 2018, in various locations throughout Pennsylvania, including Scranton, Tobyhanna, Carbondale, and Towanda Township.

This case was originally charged in 2018 and a 2019 jury found Rivera guilty of the same charges. However, in 2023 the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the convictions on a legal technicality and remanded it for a new trial.

Following the Supreme Court’s reversal of Rivera’s 2019 convictions, Rivera posted bail and was released in September 2023 after spending over four years in a state prison facility.

After Wednesday’s guilty verdict, Rivera’s bail was revoked and he was immediately
taken into custody and transported to the Bradford County Correctional Facility.

Rivera was found guilty of following six felonies and five misdemeanors,

  • Endangering Welfare of a Child Causing Risk of Serious Bodily Injury or Death

  • Indecent Assault

  • Indecent Exposure

He now awaits sentencing on August 15.
