Man found shot near Sunnyside Elementary School dies at hospital

A man was found dead New Year's Day morning near Sunnyside Elementary School, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

According to the release, deputies received a 911 call at 7:48 a.m. on reports of a person shot at the intersection of Batcave Drive and John B Carter Road.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the release said.

The victim's name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
