Man found shot in vehicle near Shark River in Neptune early Fourth of July dies

NEPTUNE – Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a man found by police inside a vehicle near the Shark River who died shortly thereafter.

Police went to South Concourse in the back of the Headliner Oasis nightclub at 1401 Route 35 shortly after 1:30 a.m. for a report of possible shots fired. They found the unidentified victim inside a vehicle with several gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead within an hour of being found.

Authorities said the shooting was not connected to the nightclub.

Authorities provided no further details as Monmouth County and Neptune Township police detectives continue their investigation.
