Man gets 24 years for sexual abuse of boy

Feb. 14—EAU CLAIRE — A man convicted last August of first degree child sexual assault, incest and causing mental harm to a child will spend 24 years behind bars after his sentencing Wednesday.

The sentence is less than what prosecutors had sought for Jay Conklin, 50, though he received a lifetime supervision order and is required to comply with the requirements for the sex offender registry. Those totals represent the first count of the indictment. Conklin also received prison terms for the second and third counts, but for lesser amounts and the sentences run concurrently with each other.
