Man Gives $500K Florida Home a New Paint Job to Spite His Dad

From Men's Health

In an act of petty revenge, a man gave his Florida home a garish rainbow-colored paint job to spite his father. According to the Naples Daily News, 40-year-old Jeffrey Leibman and his father Dennis Liebman bought the property together in 2017 for $500,000. Less than two years after they bought the single-family home, Dennis filed a lawsuit to divide the property and force a sale. Jeffrey had no plans on moving out, though. Last summer, the court ordered him to cooperate in the private sale of the property. Instead of cooperating, he refused to let realtors come inside his home, filed for personal bankruptcy protection, and, most recently, painted the home.

Thanks to Jeffrey, the home, which is located in North Naples, is dripping with splashes of orange, blue, red, pink, yellow—basically every color of the rainbow arbitrarily covers the house. But Jeffery didn’t stop at his home; he also painted the lawn, mailbox, sidewalk, and a giant palm tree in the same colorful fashion.

The Leibman’s neighbors reported seeing Jeffery paint the home during the past two weeks. Their reaction to the harsh paint job in their otherwise quiet gated community with neutral-colored homes? Not pleased. The II Regalo Homeowners Association filed a lawsuit against the Liebmans last week.

Living across the street, Amber Chapman had a front-row seat to the Leibman home’s defilement. “I’m most mad about the tree,” she told the Naples Daily News. “I don’t know how you fix that.” Chapman also revealed another layer of Jefferey’s pettiness, telling the Naples Daily News that he lit up the entire house with spotlights “for [an] evening viewing” of his handiwork.

But Jefferey’s revenge plot worked to some degree because his father was also unhappy. Recently, Dennis filed an emergency motion for contempt in response to the destruction of their shared property.
