Woman hit, killed by vehicle in Catawba County, troopers say
A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning in Catawba County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
It happened just around 6 a.m. along East Maiden Road off of U.S. Highway 321, which is just north of Lincolnton. The road was closed as investigators canvassed the scene.

The woman was walking on the road when she was hit, according to NCSHP. Channel 9′s Dave Faherty learned from investigators that the driver did stop and there were eyewitnesses to that crash.
According to an update from Highway Patrol on Thursday, the victim was identified as 38-year-old Tara Faye Heidemann of Saint Clair, Missouri.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed, according to Highway Patrol.
