Man hit, killed while crossing road in Ontario County

A man attempting to cross Routes 5 & 20 in Ontario County was struck and killed by a vehicle on Sunday evening.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office was alerted that a pedestrian was struck on Routes 5 & 20 near Tremont Street just before 5:25 p.m. Deputies said that Terrance J. Klem, 59, of Geneva was attempting to cross the road at a place other than a crosswalk when he was fatally struck by a westbound car driven by Terry W. Baker, 52, of Geneva.

Baker called 911 to report the collision and remained at the scene, deputies said.

A stretch of the road was closed for three hours Sunday evening. Deputies are investigating the crash.
