Man injured in August motorcycle collision in Parkland dies of injuries, troopers say

A 47-year-old man who was injured in August when an SUV driver turned in front of a motorcyclist on Pacific Avenue in Parkland has died of his injuries, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The collision occurred the evening of Aug. 24 near Pacific Avenue and 149th Street South, just north of Military Road South. The motorcyclist died about a month later, Sept. 23, at St. Joseph Medical Center. Troopers announced the man’s death Wednesday and said hospital staff had recently notified them. He was identified as Andrew Hart of Tacoma.

Troopers said the other driver, a 67-year-old man from Graham, was stopped in the center lane facing south on Pacific Avenue just before the collision. Hart was going north on Pacific when the other driver turned in front of him, and the motorcyclist collided with the 2001 Lincoln Navigator.

Hart was injured and taken to an area hospital. Troopers said he was wearing a helmet. The other driver was not injured.

The cause of the wreck was determined to be failure to yield, according to a WSP news release. Troopers said the SUV driver was not expected to face criminal charges, and drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the collision.
