OLIVIA — A man suffered significant injuries after being thrown about a tractor cab Monday morning near Olivia and had to be airlifted to a hospital in the metro area, according to a news release from the Renville County Sheriff's Office.
The man's name has not yet been released.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene near the intersection of 330th Street and 810th Avenue in Troy Township, about one mile southwest of Olivia, and saw a man seated inside a four-wheel-drive John Deere that was off the roadway and in a cornfield.
According to the news release, the man was pulling an empty grain cart while northbound on 330th Street when he lost control and entered the west ditch. The unbelted man was tossed around the inside of the tractor cab before it came to rest in the field.
Medical treatment was administered at the scene, and the patient was ultimately flown from the scene by Life Link III helicopter to North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale with injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening.
The Olivia Ambulance Service, Olivia Fire and Rescue and Life Link III also responded to the scene reported at 9:51 a.m. Monday.
