Man flown by medical helicopter after motorcycle crashes into pole in Shelby Co.

A man was injured after he crashed his motorcycle into a pole Monday afternoon.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Rosewood Fire and EMS, in Champaign County, were dispatched to the 4300 block of state Route 29 at around 1:25 p.m. on reports of crash with an injury, Champaign County Dispatch told News Center 7.

When crews arrived on scene, they reported that a man was lying on the road and bleeding from his head, but was still conscious, Champaign County Dispatch said. Crews believed he crashed into a pole.

CareFlight was placed on standby, dispatchers told crews on scene. However, the man was instead transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney, then flown by MedFlight to an unknown secondary hospital, Shelby County Dispatch confirmed.

His condition is currently unknown.
