Man injured in shooting at Tallahassee Circle K, the latest shooting linked to the chain

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is investigating a shooting that left a man injured Sunday morning.

The incident occurred in the 800 block of Lake Bradford Road just after 3 a.m., according to an incident synopsis by TPD.

"Officers responded to a shooting at the Circle K parking lot after two subjects got into a verbal altercation," read the synopsis, adding that shell casings were found at the scene. "The victim, an adult male, was located off FAMU Way suffering from a non-life-threatening injury."

There have been at least 57 shootings in the capital city and county since Jan. 1, resulting in at least 12 deaths and 33 injuries, according to an analysis of gun violence by the Democrat.

Seventh Circle K shooting since Jan. 2021

This is also at least the seventh shooting at a Tallahassee Circle K in the last 18 months.

In mid-February, a man was shot and injured in a gunfight at the Circle K on West Pensacola Street after a fight broke out.

About a month before, a man was killed in what police described as a "road rage" shooting at the Circle K on Thomasville Road in North Tallahassee.

In June, a man was hospitalized with "serious injuries" after he was shot at the gas station on North Monroe.

A week prior, a passenger in a vehicle opened fire at another Circle K, 5445 Capital Circle Southwest, before crashing the car and ejecting all three people inside; killing one passenger and injuring two others.

A separate Circle K, at 2849 Apalachee Parkway, was the location of the March shooting that killed 53-year-old Trevor McCarty, who was struck by a stray bullet.

Then, on Jan. 1, 2021, a man shot a women twice at another Circle K, 3433 Crawfordville Highway.
