Man who killed 6 in 2002 Dauphin County crash could soon be released
(WHTM) – The man charged with killing six people in a car crash in July 2002 could soon be out of jail after 21 years.
Boyd Knouse, who passed his minimum sentence of 20 years, was 20 years old at the time of the crash when he had a blood alcohol level well past the legal limit during a two-car crash on Linglestown Road.
Two people in Knouse’s car and four passengers in a second car died following the crash.

Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo says Knouse is likely now eligible for parole.
“I asked that the parole board consider the input from the victim’s families and there are many victims,” said Chardo. “And it should be from them that they take any objections because this was just a horrible, horrible homicide by vehicle case.”
It’s unclear when Knouse could be released. He’s currently in SCI Chester.
According to the Associated Press, after striking a vehicle, Knouse’s car sheared a utility pole in half and crashed into a tree.
“We believe that the impact speed at the time was at least 70 mph,” said Lower Paxton Township police Chief Joseph C. Blackburn at the time.
