Man killed when car crashes into tree north of Commerce in Banks County

A one-car wreck early Tuesday claimed the life of a man whose car crashed into a tree north of Commerce, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The wreck occurred about 12:30 a.m. along Walter Plant Road in a subdivision north of Interstate 85 in Banks County, the patrol said.

Banks County Coroner Mark Savage said Tuesday afternoon he was not yet releasing the name of the deceased man, a local resident.

The Dodge Charger was traveling south when it left the roadway, causing the driver to overcorrect and go off the road and crash into a tree, according to the patrol.
