Man killed after car rear-ended, hitting row of large rocks in Indiana County

A man is dead after the car he was driving was rear-ended and hit a row of large rocks in Indiana County.

According to the Indiana County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened at the intersection of Route 422 Highway East and Red Mill Road in Pine Township just before 1 a.m. on Jan. 7.

Officials said the driver, identified by the coroner’s office as 25-year-old Hunter McCloskey, from Homer City, was going westbound on Route 422 Highway East. He trued to make a left turn onto Red Mill Road when his Subaru was rear-ended by a Ram pickup truck.

After the impact, McCloskey’s car hit a row of large rocks before hitting a utility pole and stopping.

McCloskey wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the car, officials said.

McCloskey was pronounced deceased at the scene.
