Police identify man killed, suspect in early morning shooting in Goshen

A man was killed in an early morning shooting in Goshen Township on Saturday, officials said.

Officers responded around 2:13 a.m. for a reported shooting in the 1700 block of State Route 28 and found 43-year-old Eli Wolf already dead, Goshen Township police said in a news release.

Brian Cansler, 30, was located a short time later at the nearby Angilo's Pizza location, police said, adding officers used a stun gun on Cansler as he resisted arrest.

Cansler has been charged with murder and is currently being held at the Clermont County Jail pending an arraignment.

As of Saturday afternoon, investigators were still searching for the gun used in the shooting, with search teams combing the area of Lakeshore Estates, officials said, adding a sonar search of the pond at the mobile home park was also underway.

Residents are being advised to call police dispatch at 513-732-2231 if they stumble upon a stray, small-caliber firearm and to leave the weapon untouched.
