A man is dead after two cars crashed on Florida’s Turnpike in southern Palm Beach County Sunday morning.

The two cars were traveling north on the Turnpike just after 5:30 a.m. near the exit for Boynton Beach Boulevard when the front bumper of one car collided with the rear bumper of the other, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both crashed into the median wall and one rolled over. Both caught fire but the driver of one car, a 30-year-old man from Miramar, was able to escape. He was taken to Delray Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither victim was immediately identified by officials. The crash was still under investigation Sunday afternoon.
