Police identify man killed in late-night shooting in Chesapeake

A man was killed in a shooting in Chesapeake Wednesday night.

A call came in at 10:26 p.m. referencing shots fired on Lucy Lane in the Catalina Crossings apartment complex, near the intersection of North Battlefield Boulevard and U.S. 13. Police on the scene found a 20-year-old man, Latrell Freeman, had been shot.

Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chesapeake police.

A short time after this shooting, another man arrived at an emergency room in a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. Police are investigating whether the two incidents are related.
