Man killed in Remsen crash; other driver suffers minor injuries

One man was killed over the weekend in a two-vehicle crash in Remsen, according to Oneida County sheriff's deputies.

Wayne Geer, 78, failed to yield the right away Saturday morning as he entered Route 365 from Fairchild Road, deputies said. Geer's vehicle then collided with a vehicle traveling west on Route 365 driven by Scott Jackson, 66, no address given, deputies said.

Geer was transported by STaR and Kuyahoora Valley Ambulance Services to the St. Elizabeth Campus of the Mohawk Valley Health System for serious injuries. While en route to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries, officials said.

Jackson was evaluated at the scene and was released with minor injuries, officials said.

Also responding to the scene were members of the Sherriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit, the Sheriff’s Office Forensic Identification Unit, state police, the state Department of Transportation, the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Remsen Fire Department.
