Russian invasion forces shelled a residential area of the village of Sonyachne in the Ukrainian-controlled part of Kherson Oblast on Sept. 9, resulting in the death of a 48-year-old man, the head of the Kherson Oblast Military Administration, Alexander Prokudin, reported on his Telegram channel.
Russian forces specifically targeted private residences in their attack, said Prokudin.
The incident was reported to the Kherson Prosecutor’s Office at 2 p.m.
A criminal investigation has been initiated concerning the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional homicide, as stipulated by Article 438, Paragraph 2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.
Russian frequently shells civilian areas in Ukraine, targeting areas far from the frontlines with no apparent military purpose.
