Man killed in Security-Widefield officer-involved shooting identified

(SECURITY-WIDEFIELD, Colo.) — The man who was shot and killed in a confrontation with law enforcement in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 27 in Security-Widefield has been identified by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

According to CSPD, 51-year-old Christopher Fraijo died of gunshot wounds sustained in an incident involving deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) and officers with the Fountain Police Department (FPD). According to CSPD, which is the lead investigative agency, Fraijo was seen by an EPSO deputy walking south on Security Boulevard with a gun.

Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Fountain Police Department responded, and after contacting Fraijo, CSPD said Fraijo ignored commands from law enforcement to drop his weapon. CSPD said he then pointed his gun at members of law enforcement, at which point at least one EPSO deputy and at least one FPD officer fired.

Lifesaving efforts were made, but Fraijo ultimately died at the hospital. No deputies, officers, or bystanders were hurt in the shooting.

The deputies and officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, per their department policies, and are identified as:

  • Deputy Tiffany Lee, employed with EPSO since 2014

  • Corporal Eric Moore, employed with FPD since 2016

  • Deputy Cameron Komrofske, employed with EPSO since 2018

  • Deputy Johnathan Aggen, employed with EPSO since 2018

  • Officer Brandon Anderson, employed with FPD since 2020

  • Officer Destin Alvarez, employed with FPD since 2020
