Man killed in a two-car crash

Jul. 28—WINDHAM — A 36- yearold Chaplin man was killed during a two- car accident on Boston Post Road Wednesday morning. The accident was reported at 8: 23 a. m. on Boston Post Road by Crystal Road.

In the accident report, which state police released at 5: 27 p. m. Wednesday, the victim was identified as Ian Bailey of 532 Phoenixville Road, Chaplin.

North Windham Fire Department Chief Nick DelMastro said a LifeStar helicopter was called but was canceled since the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He said the victim was trapped inside the vehicle and emergency responders extricated his body. State police said the second driver, whom they identified as 36- yearold Mary Munoz- Delgadillo of Church St., Willimantic, received " possible serious injuries" and was transported by a Windham ambulance to Windham Community Memorial Hospital.

When the report was released, the accident was still under investigation.

Drones were used to obtain footage of the scene as members of the state police accident reconstruction team investigated. State police said Munoz- Delgadillo was driving her 2021 Nissan Rogue eastbound on Boston Post Road ( Route 6) and Bailey was driving a 1994 Mazda northbound on Crystal Road.

Police said Bailey's vehicle entered the intersection with Boston Post Road and was struck on the driver's side by Munoz- Delgadillo's vehicle.

The road was closed between Walmart and Aldi for several hours and re- opened at 12: 59 p. m. There are many businesses in the area, which has high traffic flow.

Other nearby businesses include Home Depot, Klaus Larsen LLC. and Advanced Auto Parts. Many spectators watched as emergency personnel responded to the accident.
