Man killed, two others seriously injured in crash

Nov. 9—BROOKLYN — A Dayville man was killed and a Hampton man received suspected seri ous injuries during a twocar head-on collision in Brooklyn Monday. The accident was report ed at 4:55 p.m. at the intersection of Providence Road and Church Street. 26 yearold Andrew Baker of 14 Ware Road, Dayville, one of the drivers, was killed during the accident. He was transported to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. 26 year-old Gabrielle Metrano of 14 Ware Road, Dayville, a passenger in Baker's car, and 54 yearold Michael Monk of 61 Calvin Burnham Rd., Hampton, the other driver, received suspected serious injuries. Metrano was transported to Providence Hospital and Monk was transported to Day Kimball Hospital.

According to police, Baker was driving eastbound on Route 6 in Killingly. Police said Monk was traveling westbound on Route 6 and crossed over the double yellow line into the east bound lane. Monk's vehicle then struck Baker's vehicle in a head-on col- lision.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene. The vehicle driven by Monk, a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport, was towed to A&J Auto and Baker's vehicle, a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado, was towed to Curtis Auto Body. An individual in the state police public information said Tuesday morning the investigation was still open and the cause had not been determined.
