- I just love this girl, a chicken.

[CROWING]

Sammi means the world to me. She has filled a void in my heart when I lost my dog. She has been such a great companion for me in some really difficult times that I could have gone through. You like that?

[SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC] Yeah.

[CROWING]

Sammi, that's an alligator.

[SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC]

I had a dog. He was 17 years old when he died. I just thought I would do something different. And I picked up a three-day-old chick.

[SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC]

- Look at that chicken.

- I live near the beach, so she goes to the beach quite regularly. Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the beach, of course. It's hard to put a chicken into a particular box when you don't know what that box is supposed to be, and she is adapted very well.

[CROWING]

We're in the Florida Keys, and there are a lot of boys that are hot after Sammi. You're so sweet.

[SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC]

I am originally from Colorado, and I moved to Florida five years ago. There's so much about America I have not seen.

Early 2018, I decided every weekend as I can, I'm going to pick a dot on the map. So I just ask her, OK, Sammi, are we going North South, East, West? She kind of lets me know that she needs to go. Sometimes, it is quick. Obviously, we definitely get a lot of turned heads. We are in New York City. As folks see a guy with chicken on a leash. Are you snuggled in?

[SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC]

Is it nice and comfortable?

[SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC]

My travels would mean nothing without you, Sammi.

[WATER FLOWING]

It's a fun experience when we're out eating. She sits very calmly just like a dog.

[SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC]

Really?

[SOFT INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC]

There's been so much that little chicken has taught me about how to love something that is outside my understanding. She is not going to come out and lick my face, obviously. In the evenings, I lay down on my bed, and she jumps up, and she crawls up on my chest and gets really close to my neck. It's a unique way that she shows love. And it just melts my heart whenever she shows that affection. Through the first set of brushes.

[ENGINE ROARING]

She feels most secure when she knows that I am close.

[WATER FLOWING]

You're not going to give, are you? Did you have a rough day today?

[CROWING]

Did you get attacked by a hawk? Are you a good girl, Sammi? Does that feel good? I love Sammi a lot. She is an amazing companion for me. I never thought I would love a chicken.
