Authorities have released more information about the pursuit by Totowa police that left a Paterson man dead last week.

David Lucero, 28, was killed in a crash while while being followed by a Totowa police officer on Sept. 20. Lucero was driving a moped at the time of the collision, said a statement from the Attorney General’s Office.

Patrolman Damiano DiIorio was in a marked vehicle and started following Lucero and an unnamed passenger in Totowa, continuing into Paterson. At about 7:19 p.m. near McBride and Murray avenues, Lucero collided with another car, the statement said.

The investigation is ongoing.
