Man narrowly dodges oncoming train after he’s shoved onto tracks, California cops say

Waiting for a train just after 9 p.m. Monday, a California man was suddenly shoved off the platform and onto the tracks 5 feet below, leaving him right in the path of his ride as it pulled into the station, outlets report.

As the northbound train came barreling closer, the man dashed into a small crawl space, narrowly escaping with his life and a minor ankle injury, Bay Area Rapid Transit police said, according to The Mercury News.

After coming to a stop, the operator opened a door allowing the man to climb inside, according to the outlet.

The suspect fled the scene, and the victim was taken home by police.

Investigators haven’t provided details on a motive behind the attack, according to the Associated Press

Unreleased surveillance footage shows a woman who had been lounging on a bench at the Berkeley BART station suddenly leap up and shove the man with both hands, BART officials said, the outlet reported.

The suspect was later identified as Roli Okoropudu, a 34-year-old woman, who police found Tuesday lying on a bench near the station, according to Berkeleyside.

She was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and a probation violation, Berkeleyside reported.
