Man riding Brooklyn subway stabbed by stranger for dropping item onto the tracks, sparking delay

A man riding a Brooklyn subway train was stabbed and wounded by a frustrated passenger early Thursday after the victim dropped something onto the tracks, causing the conductor to stop the train, police said.

The 37-year-old victim was walking between cars on a No. 4 train at the Borough Hall station in Downtown Brooklyn when he dropped the item onto the tracks about 1:20 a.m.

He ran to the conductor to report what happened and the conductor stopped the train and ordered everyone onto the platform so he could check the tracks and see if it was OK to proceed.

As the victim waited, a stranger enraged over the delay got into a fight with him.

During the brawl, the stranger pulled a blade and stabbed the victim in the arm, causing a minor wound, cops said.

Medics took the victim to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was treated and released.

His attacker ran out of the station onto the street and has not been caught.
